쇠박새(marsh tit) - 몸길이 약 12cm이다. 정수리와 턱밑은 검정색이고 얼굴 옆은 흰색, 등과 허리는 잿빛을 띤 연한 갈색이다. 아랫면은 흰색이고 다리는 회색이다. 부리가 두껍고 발톱은 굽었다. 암컷이 수컷보다 약간 작다는 것 외에는 수컷과 구별하기 어렵다. 한국에서는 전국에 걸쳐 번식하는 흔한 여름새이다. 번식기에는 암수 함께 살다가 번식을 마치면 진박새·동고비 등과 함께 무리지어 산다. 산지나 평지 숲에 살면서 보통 나무꼭대기에 앉아 지내는데, 관목 가지에도 앉는다.

둥지는 주로 소나무에 생긴 구멍이나 딱따구리류가 뚫어 만든 둥지를 이용하는데, 더러는 직접 둥지를 만들기도 한다. 이끼를 많이 사용해서 밥그릇 모양으로 틀고 알자리에는 동물의 털을 깐다. 4~5월에 한배에 7∼8개의 알을 낳아 약 13일 동안 품고 새끼가 부화하면 16∼17일 동안 기른다. 먹이는 주로 곤충류이지만 식물성도 먹는다. 유라시아 대륙 북부에 분포한다. 라고 두산백과사전에 나와 있습니다.
